Climate control

Tiggy and one of our plantsNow that April has begun, its time to start visiting the plants in their various nurseries; an exciting time as it really feels like the garden is taking shape. As well as this, there is a certain amount of trepidation as the vagaries of our climate can make or break the garden. The only thing we can do is to grow some contingency plants in different climatic situations and wish for some good luck. All our nurserymen are seasoned Chelsea growers, so they have got all the necessary tricks up their sleeves and thus we are in the safest possible hands.

I’m really looking forward to the bank holiday weekend, as I think it will be the last little bit of spare time before the show. With a huge amount of relief, I’ve managed to finish up all my other design jobs so I will be able to concentrate solely on the garden from next week onwards. Although I might have a few cash flow problems, at least I’ll be able to stop juggling too many different jobs. Happy Easter!

How wonderful! I was just looking up some things and came across this site - I was already looking forward to Chelsea this year, but a garden based on Where The Wild Things Are will be a really nice bonus. Good luck - sad to see that you had to compromise on the Catalpas, but I’m sure it will be lovely regardless.
