Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things AreTiggy's garden was inspired by Maurice Sendak's 'Where the Wild Things Are'. It's one of those rare books that can be enjoyed equally by children and grown-ups, and if you disagree, then it's been too long since you've attended a wild rumpus!

The book tells the story of Max, who dons his wolf suit in pursuit of some mischief and gets sent to bed without supper. When a forest grows in his room, his rampage continues across the ocean and to a vivid land where the wild things are. Sendak's colour illustrations are beautiful, and each turn of the page brings the discovery of a new wonder.

The book has become an acknowledged classic of children's books, winning the Caldecott Medal for the Most Distinguished Picture Book of the Year, 1964.
